6. Human Resource Development
The Bank, appreciating the fact that its staff is one of its valuable assets, continues to place high premium and priority on activities that would foster the development of a highly trained professional staff: Staff who would operate efficiently to meet the challenges of the new millennium. The legal framework for these challenges is being articulated in the Bank of Sierra Leone Act 2000 now being debated at Parliament.
With an authorised staff complement of 522, 15 were on contract. There were 168 professionals.
During the review period, 40 staff were recruited whilst 35 left the Bank as follows:

(a) Staff Development
To achieve its objective to have a professionally trained staff, the Bank made accessible to its employees a broad range of training opportunities from specialised in-house training and programmes of study leading to certificates, diplomas and degrees from institutions both inside and outside Sierra Leone.
